A working version of the CoFIND LTSN-ICS system intended for the use of learners of computing may be found at http://edtech.it.brighton.ac.uk/cofindltsn/
If you are interested in learning or teaching some aspect of computing, feel free to log in and use the system.
If you wish to install the system on your own server you may download the current development version from here Note that this is still under development and is not yet perfect. Come back soon for the real thing.
To run CoFIND you will need a server running PHP 4.x and MySQL 3.x. It should work with at least Apache and IIS.
A self-organising directory of Web-based resources created by learners for learners (and anyone else who cares)
Self-organising processes shape the presentation of resources. CoFINDs structure literally evolves, moulded by forces of natural selection and stigmergy.
CoFIND has been developed since 1998 using ASP with an MS Access database
as part of my research for my PhD
It was intended primarily as a research tool to investigate mechanisms
for self-organisation in networked learning environments.
This is the first version intended to be usable by a larger community.
It is based on principles learnt from the earlier experiments but with
the help of the LTSN-ICS development fund it has been completely redesigned
for a wider audience and rewritten using PHP and MySQL.
You may learn more about CoFIND and the principles which drive it from various papers and presentations at http://www.brighton.ac.uk/cmis/staff/jd29/cofind.html
